August 25, 2026
Minister of Health of Iceland
Ms. Alma D. Möller
Ministry of Health
Reykjavík, Iceland
Dear Minister of Health,
I, the undersigned leader of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation , have familiarized myself with the work of the Institute of Spinal Cord Injury - Iceland (ISCI) and have been in contact with the
persons responsible for the Society.
I understand that the Ministry has received a request from ISCI asking that the following proposal, or a similar one, be presented this year to the World Health Organization (WHO) under the name of Iceland.
Proposal: That the World Health Organization establish a working group of artificial intelligence experts and life scientists with the task of collecting the existing fundamental scientific knowledge in the international field of neuroscience and integrating these data through the application of artificial intelligence.
The objective would be to use AI to identify important connections and patterns within the available datasets that could lead to a better understanding of the nervous system, more effective treatments, and potentially even cures for spinal cord injury/paralysis and diseases of the nervous system.
The Reeve Foundation considers the work that has been undertaken in Iceland in this regard to be highly innovative and would like to express its support for presenting this proposal to the WHO.
Sincerely yours,
Margaret F. Goldberg
