Halldór Jónsson jr became specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery 1986, obtained his PhD at Uppsala University Sweden in 1992. Head of Orthopaedics at Landspitali University Hospital 1992 and professor and chairman of

Orthopaedics at University of Iceland 2003 and professor emeritus at the Institute of Biomedical- and Neural Engineering, Reykjavik University 2024.


His general and surgical practise, teaching and research field is based on pathoanatomy and 3D modelling of patients with tumors (sarcoma and metastasis), trauma, degenerative disease and anomalies in the spine, pelvis

and the extremities and also patients undergoing total hip-, knee- and shoulder arthroplasty. Founder of registry and working group for sarcoma in Iceland, IceSG.
